West Acton families start new ice cream shop
The Greenhalgh, Kirkman, and Richardt families all live in Acton and have daughters the same age, which is how they all met.
“We talked about ice cream on the soccer sidelines for years,” said Dave Greenhalgh.
For a town of about 23,000, Acton was a “black hole” for ice cream, according to Greenhalgh. So, when the opportunity came to set up an ice cream shop in town, the families jumped at the chance. The result is West Side Creamery, a small-batch ice cream shop where all the ice cream is made on the premises, along with homemade waffle cones. The shop is located at 537 Massachusetts Ave., at the West Acton Villageworks.
